What are BrinkGuides?
BrinkGuides are our attempt at a new approach to a predictable and saturated market. On our recent travels we were surprised to discover that most, if not all, of the mobile applications available to the general traveler, to put it bluntly...SUCK. The ones we tried ran the gamut from poor translations to very weak content (perhaps rehashed from wikipedia) or they were so full of info there was no real discernment. We knew we could do better. At BrinkGuide, we believe travel is more than a journey through time and space, it is a state of mind. The best travelers manage to wear that state of mind on their lapels and easily attract like minded locals for guidance to be able to truly experience a new locale. Without some real connection to a new place, everyone is a tourist. We reasoned that finding these like minded local guides would be the first step toward building a better mobile guide, that they would know what's just under the surface, at the margin, On The Brink. And thus was born the BrinkGuide series of Mobile Applications, the first mobile guides written by locals.

What do the pricing icons mean?
A pricing guide is available in your mobile application under the Brink tab. Navigate to "The Guide" section and then scroll to the end to locate the pricing table. You will find a key indicating the four pricing classes we use in the apps: Free, Cheap, Average, and Posh. If you see "N/A" for pricing on a venue, it just means that we do not have reliable data for the pricing at this time or else that it varies too much to be able to accurately define in one category.

Why don't you have an entry for ___________ in this city?
We've been fairly selective about the venues we've included in our BrinkGuides. We want the best, the unusual, the unique and unknown (with a few of the standard suspects thrown in for good measure). However, if you feel we've missed a venue that really belongs in BrinkGuide, feel free to contact us using the form in the Support section of our website. Or even better, consider becoming a content contributor. You can visit the Become An Editor section of this site to learn more.
